This Friday I will be speaking to a room full of women in business at the Copthorne Hotel in Salford, at the invite of the lovely Suzy Orr; who runs a successful network across the North west.
If you are free do book on http://www.uniqueladiesnetwork.co.uk/ – it is always a great event. And if you can’t do this week then perhaps next Friday at The Bolton Whites Hotel where I will also be speaking. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity. My hope is to inspire other women by sharing my story; not a glossy, photo shopped version concentrating on the successes and highlights but an honest, nitty gritty nuts and bolts version which includes the tough stuff. I have learned far more through my ‘failures’ than through my successes. The leaders who inspire me most are those who are willing to be honest and vulnerable. Their stories have more integrity. Knowing other people have climbed mountains and overcome hurdles is very empowering. I know I am a more effective coach because I have ‘been there and got the t shirt’ – I don’t speak from my ivory tower, I have trod the same difficult paths. I know the pitfalls – I have fallen in them! But I have clawed and scraped my way back out and live to tell the tale.
