I wanted to share news about the latest book. It’s a collaboration between Bishop Chris Edmondson and me along with Reverend Dr Shaun Lambert, Bev Walker and Martin Grindrod. It’s called “Self-Love(d) – mindful journeys of learning to love God, neighbour and self”and is available to buy on Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/0wmeMgD or through Fresh Expressions Ltd https://freshexpressions.org.uk/product/self-loved/
I originally started the book in 2017. After I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and depression I realised that, despite being a therapist who supported others to live their best life, and being a Christian who told others how much God loved them I wasn’t loving to myself and nor did I really believe God loved me unconditionally.
After I began to learn more about the practice of mindfulness and connected that learning to my faith this began to change for me and I practiced the self care I encouraged in others and have fully-embraced the wonderful truth that God’s love for me really is unconditional.
The completion of this book has felt like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. I believe it is so much richer for the collaboration with others than it could have been had it remained a solo project. Even though it is a book about the two great commandments our hope is that whoever reads it will be blessed by it.
